Digital Revolution: Pluto in Aquarius
Pluto's entrance into Aquarius reflects a technological shift — how will you prepare?
Next week marks a significant shift in the collective ethos — Pluto (whether classified as a planet or not) moves from the sign of Capricorn into Aquarius. As Pluto has the slowest orbit around the Sun, its voyage through a sign takes decades to complete. Compared with Mercury, which typically stays in a sign for a month, Pluto can take anywhere from 12 to 31 years to complete its venture in a single sign. During a time of great societal change (in the realms of culture, technology, etc.) astrologers expect Pluto’s venture in Aquarius to coincide with a collage of transformation — seemingly faster moving than ever before in human history.
The point of this article isn’t to recount the past. To put simply. Pluto was in the sign of Capricorn during the founding of the United States in 1776. Soon after (and this was prior to its discovery), Pluto entered Aquarius. This brought about the French Revolution, as well as the early glimpses into industrialization that quickly became a hallmark of society at-large today.
There are astrologers with a greater understanding of history taking apart Pluto’s previous venture in the sign of Aquarius. That isn’t my focus. As technology (and therefore culture) continues to speed-up, seemingly faster moving than we’ve seen before (with the advent of A.I. and decentralized technology), I’d like to explore the changes we’ll likely see in the next several years (let alone the next few decades).
My background isn’t in technology. They say everyone should learn programming (“Learn to code!”), but I’m an anthropologist at heart. However, I’ve got a decent understanding of decentralization and Web 3.0. This includes emerging household names like cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and now dApps (or decentralized applications). I’m better suited at talking about the implications of these technologies than creating programs or applications myself.
I’m not alone in the belief decentralization (especially in finance) will be a cornerstone of Pluto’s time in Aquarius. Astrologer, Adam Sommer made the prediction that by the end of Pluto’s transit, we’ll see Bitcoin win the game over the forces which control society through centralization — notably the Federal Reserve, which has been creating money “out of thin air” for more than a century.
In the last several months, A.I. (artificial intelligence) has made incredible strides. It feels like the next iteration of programs like ChatGPT or Midjourney are released every day. This isn’t taking account the massive number of programs with backing from wealthy corporations. I’m reminded of a conversation I had on a recent trip to NYC.
I was eating ramen in the Lower East Side. Sitting at the bar, I struck up a conversation with a project manager from London — she worked regularly with a number of giant corporations. With confidence, she predicted that more than 40 new technologies would be released at essentially the same time. If there’s a marker for this kind of event, it’s Pluto’s early ingress into the sign of Aquarius.
I believe this is what we’re seeing now. Technology, like artificial intelligence, has been in production for long enough. It’s only now they’re actually being released for public use. This falls in the same frame of mind that believes “the powers that be” are pushing for a more globalized society. The release of new technologies (and the utilization of decentralized finance) will coincide with either the fall (and general distrust) of the institutions we’ve relied on in the past or their successful imprisonment of the sovereign individual. It’s difficult to predict exactly how the future will manifest, and I suspect it will include aspects of both dynamics.
Pluto enters Aquarius on February 23rd. It stays in the sign for three months, before returning to Capricorn, and finally back into Aquarius this time next year. It will stay in Aquarius until 2041. I’m neither optimistic nor pessimistic about the future. My faith remains with God — regardless of the outcome, I believe there are tremendous lessons to be gained from the technological advancements of the coming decades (regardless of how they play out).
It’s important to develop an understanding of the technology itself, while maintaining a connection to the values which have sustained humankind in the past. These include the survival skills and ability to think for oneself, as well as the drive to connect with like-minded individuals whether through family or community.
If anything, it’s being able to experience the world through an anthropological lens. This means being aware of what’s taking place (and being able to speak the language to a certain extent), as well as remaining healthfully detached from mainstream media (MSM) and the various tools they use to steal your attention.
This channel will be a combination of astrological insight, as well as my basic observations as to what’s going on — my ideal vision is to bring together like-minded people, and create a space for individuals to connect that feels warm, inviting, and open-minded to a degree which feels very lacking in the modern world.
Ultimately, prepare yourself for a level of change we haven’t yet seen in modern society. The rumblings already are taking place — it feels like, every week, there’s a new phenomenon to explore online, and a heightened sense of “the end of the world.” Take everything with a grain of salt — there’s nothing more important than your relationship to yourself, your family and community, and ultimately, the Creator of this exciting, yet profoundly strange experience.
The anthropological approach you take appropriately synthesizes and makes for a pleasant reading experience.
